Optimization of a reinforced concrete structure subjected to dynamic wind action

This work proposes a methodology to optimize reinforced concrete structure. For this, the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) algorithm was used, an from group of metaheuristic algorithms, which presents easy computational implementation. As study object, frame structure adapted real building subjected dynamic action artificially generated synoptic wind. The objective function is reduce volume that, dimensions cross-sections were used as design variables, and maximum displacement at top imposed by ASCE / SEI 7-10 standard lateral constraint, well story drift between floors. In addition this structural optimization, it also proposed use optimization Tuned Mass Dampers (TMD), in different quantities, positions parameters, improving response building. results show that for situation possible approximately 24%, respecting limit required standard.
